Home ice fans finally had something to cheer about during the BC Hockey League championship series.
The Penticton Vees won their third game in a row in the and became the first team in the series to win on home ice with a 3-2 victory in game five over the Nanaimo Clippers.
After a scoreless first, Nanaimo opened the scoring on a shorthanded, unassisted effort from Corey Renwick at 8:39 of the second. Demico Hannoun briefly tied it for the Vees but just 1:50 after that, Ryan Forbes put the Clips up 2-1 heading to the third.
The Vees were actually outshot 9-8 in the final frame but still rallied with goals from Cam Amantea at 11:44 and the winner from first star Riley Alferd at 15:32 to complete the comeback.
Penticton maintained the series trend and outshot Nanaimo 37-26.
The Vees can win the Fred Page Cup on the road Friday night in game six.
Faceoff will be 7 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo.
