4 Vees make Jr. Challenge roster

The Penticton Vees will be well represented at the World Jr. A Hockey Challenge which begins Sunday in Kindersley, SK.

Defencemen Dante Fabbro and Gabe Bast and forwards Tyson Jost and Demico Hannoun were named to the Canada West roster following a three ay selection camp in Calgary.

A total of 60 players were invited to the camp.

Eight other players representing Interior Division teams were not selected for the team.

In all, nine BCHL players were named to the Canada West roster including

Defencemen Viktor Dombrovskiy (Prince George Spruce Kings), Carmine Buono (Powell River Kings), plus forwards Kurt Keats (Powell River Kings), Marcus Vela (Langley Rivermen) and Sheldon Rempal (Nanaimo Clippers).

Keats captained Team Canada West last year.

This is the ninth year of the Jr A Challenge. Canada West has won the event three times while Team USA has captured the other five.

Teams participating include Canad West, Canada East, the United States, Switzerland, Denmark and Russia.

NHL players who have played in the WJAC include Vladimir Tarasenko, Beau Bennett, Nail Yakupov, Kyle Turris, Joe Colborne, Mikhail Grigorenko, Reilly Smith, Jaden Schwartz, Justin Schultz, Hampus Lindholm, Elias Lindholm, Riley Nash, Dmitri Kulikov, Calle Jarnkrok and Slava Voinov.
