Warriors' captain gives back to the kids
Oct 31, 2013 / 1:30 pm
West Kelowna Warriors captain, Matt Anholt, has set up a new partnership with the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club.
"Anholt's Army" will host youth from 8 to 10 years of age from the Boys and Girls Club at each Warriors home game from now until the end of the season.
Youngsters will get seats in a special "Anholt's Army" section, meet Anholt at the end of each game plus other goodies.
Anholt will also host drop-in ball hockey games every Tuesday - plus, for each point he scores this season, $25 will be donated to the Boys and Giorls club courtesy of Fender's Auto Body, Ultimate Hockey and Skate and Shutout Sports Collectibles.
He currently has 12 points in 18 games this season.
"I'm honoured I can be a part of such a great charitable effort like this," says Anholt.
"I want to thank my sponsors and the Warriors for making this possible. Obviously I have a little pressure now to go out and have a good season but, more importantly, I'm just happy I can help out with the kids in our community."
Anholt is committed to Alaska-Anchorage for the 2015-2016 season.
"I am very proud of Matt to step up and lead our team in the community off the ice," says Warriors GM/head coach, Rylan Ferster.
"He already plays such a strong game and this will add to his desire on the ice."
