Sun stop three-game skid

The Okanagan Sun snapped their three-game losing slide Saturday afternoon.

Quarterback Alex Douglas ran for a pair of touchdowns and threw for a third in a 38-9 thumping of the Kamloops Broncos.

The Sun dominated on both sides of the ball for the first three quarters, building up a 37-0 lead On their second possession of the game, already up 1-0 on a punt single, Douglas drove the Sun 59-yards in six plays, aided by a short third-down conversion

The rookie quarterback capped off the drive by calling his own number to put the Sun up eight.

They were unable to capitalize off decent field position until late in the opening half.

With under two minutes to go until the half, Douglas hit fellow rookie Chan Lual from 31-yards out for a 15-0 lead.

Moments later, after holding the Broncos, Jonah Williams blocked a punt, scooped up the loose football, and scampered 12-yards to pay dirt to put the Sun up 22-0 at the half.

They ended any hope of a Broncos comeback in the third.

Douglas ran in from a yard out on the second possession of the third quarter, the Kelton Kouri found the end zone from five yards out in the final minute of the quarter to go up 37-0.

The Broncos got a late touchdown to avoid being shutout for the second week in a row.

Douglas finished the day completing 14 of 21 passes for 200 yards. He added 32 yards on the ground on six carries.

Conor Richard spent the afternoon with the offence, hauling in five passes for 71 yards. Kouri was the busiest of the running backs, carrying the ball 11 times for 65 yards and the touchdown.

The Sun are back at it next Sunday afternoon when they entertain the Valley Huskers.
