Sun ride stingy defence

The Okanagan Sun found the end zone just once during their BCFC contest in Nanaimo Saturday.

It was more than enough for a defence which has allowed just one touchdown this season.

The VI Raiders managed just a first quarter field goal in a 27-3 loss at the hands of the Sun in a battle of the only unbeaten teams in the league.

The defence has allowed just 10 points in three games including a shutout last weekend in Chilliwack.

Leading 12-3 after a lackluster opening 30 minutes the offence got untracked early in the second half. Quarterback Cam Bedore hooked up with Kyle Patchell for the lone major of the day.

Thomas Huber converted the touchdown and booted five field goals in the win.

The defence created a safety whole the Raiders conceded another two points.

The win was the fifth in a row for the Sun over their rivals from Nanaimo and leaves them atop the BCFC standings with a perfect 3-0 record.

The Raiders fall to 2-1 with the loss.

The Sun, who have played two straight on the road, return to the Apple Bowl next Saturday when they host the reigning BCFC champion Langley Rams.
