One arrested in Thornhill shooting

10:40 a.m. update: The North District Major Crime Unit and Terrace RCMP have one male in custody with regard to a fatal shooting that took place in Thornhill, east of Terrace, Saturday afternoon.
Terrace RCMP were called to the scene at approximately 1 p.m. on September 14, where they located a deceased male and an injured female. Both had been shot. The female was transported to the Terrace Hospital with a serious, but non life threatening gunshot wound.
“RCMP are still gathering information to determine what happened and are speaking with witnesses. We are able to confirm that we have one male in custody and that the public is not at risk in relation to this incident," said Cst. Lesley Smith, North District Media Relations Officer.
Terrace RCMP continue to speak with witnesses and are asking anyone who may have information about this incident to please contact them at (250) 638-7400.
A man is dead and a woman is injured following an apparent shooting near Terrace, BC Saturday, according to RCMP.
Mounties and the North District Major Crime Unit are investigating the incident, which occurred in the small community of Thornhill before 1 p.m.
The female victim is in stable condition in Terrace Hospital, according to Const. Lesley Smith.
Details are few and far between, and Mounties are still trying to piece together happened, Smith said.
She said investigators will provide new information as it becomes available.
Unconfirmed reports say those in the area of Kleanza Creek are being told to stay indoors.
It is uncertain whether police are still searching for a suspect.
