Hwy 1 east of Revelstoke open

Update: 9:00 p.m. RCMP continue to investigate the collision that occurred on the Trans Canada highway in Glacier National Park.
There were three people seriously injured as a result of this collision, all three people were from the Calgary Alberta area. The two vehicles involved were pickup trucks. The occupants of the westbound pickup truck were transported to Calgary. The driver of the eastbound pickup truck was transported to Kelowna.
Evidence located at the scene and statements from witnesses indicate that the eastbound pickup truck lost control, crossed over to the westbound lanes and collided with the westbound pickup. The posted speed limit where the collision occurred is 70 kilometers per hour.
The RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to please contact Cpl, Jeff Watson, Trans Canada East Traffic Services, Golden at 250-344-2221.
Update: 4:30 p.m. The Trans Canada Highway between Revelstoke and Golden has now been opened to traffic once again. However, one section remains a single lane at this point. The highway has been closed since about 9 a.m.
Update. 1:30 pm: Highway 1 remains closed in both directions from Revelstoke to Golden (147.8 km) because of Vehicle Incident 5km east of Rogers Pass. Estimated time of opening is between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
Noon update: The Trans Canada between Revelstoke and Golden continues to be closed. Next update will be at 1 p.m.
Members of the Trans Canada East Traffic Services unit from Golden and Golden RCMP members are on scene of a serious injury motor vehicle collision on the Trans Canada Highway in Glacier National Park east of the Rogers Pass Summit.
At this time RCMP can confirm two vehicles, one eastbound and one west bound collided a few hundred meters east of the Tupper Timber snow shed.
Three people have been transported to hospital in serious condition.
The Trans Canada Highway is currently closed in this area. A collision re-constructionist is en-route the scene.
