Man pleads guilty in death of sex worker

An Okanagan man accused of killing a sex-trade worker in Surrey has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

The body of 41-year-old Teri-Lyn Williams was found in a grassy area in Surrey's Whalley neighbourhood not far from a strip club in the summer of 2010.

In September 2011, 29-year-old Dustin Lee Lalonde was charged in connection to her death.

Cpl. Adam MacIntosh, spokesman for the Integrated Homicide Team, said police were pleased with Lalonde's decision to plead guilty.

"We want people to remember her, that she lost her life and she was a victim of a homicide," MacIntosh said.

Lalonde's sentencing hearing is set for May 31 at New Westminster Supreme Court.
