Grow op busted on Valentine's Day

Two men are now facing drug related charges after RCMP members located a Marihuana Grow Operation in Quesnel B.C.

On February 14, the North District Integrated Marihuana Enforcement Task Force (NDIME) and Quesnel RCMP members executed a search warrant in the 4700 block of Highway 97 North, Quesnel, BC.

A marihuana grow operation was located inside the residence. RCMP located 1,652 marihuana plants at various stages of growth and approximately five pounds of dried marihuana "bud" was seized along with related grow equipment and documentation showing residential occupancy.

Police also seized two industrial sized diesel generators and a pickup truck utilized to facilitate the production of marihuana.

"This drug seizure had an estimated street value of approximately $1.7 million dollars" stated Cst. Lesley Smith, North District Media Relations Officer "Police were also able to identify the two males tending to the grow and discovered one male was in Canada illegally".

Two adult males were arrested and are facing charges for Production of a Controlled Substance and Possession For the Purpose of Trafficking. A 34 year old male from Hungary is currently being held on a Detention Order as he was found to be in Canada illegally. He is scheduled to attend an Immigration hearing in Vancouver later this week. A 59 year old male from the Lower Mainland was released from custody and both are scheduled to make their first court appearance in Quesnel on May 14.
