Abbotsford man still on the run

Abbotsford Police are searching for a burglary suspect on the run who managed to evade a cop cruiser in his path and also defy a spike belt.

Police say they were called to a rural residence in the city's north end (on Nicholson Road) about 5 p.m. Friday.

They say he fled in a stolen pickup truck, striking a police vehicle parked at the end of the driveway.

A spike belt was deployed, but the pickup kept going until it crashed with another car.

A woman says she was pulled from her car by the handgun-wielding suspect, who jumped in her Toyota Corolla and drove west on the Trans-Canada Highway.

No one was seriously injured, but police say they couldn't locate the car throughout the night.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s or 30s wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and was last seen driving a 2006 grey Toyota Carolla with B.C. licence plate 726 PHL.
