A Mountie from British Columbia's Cariboo region may have thought he'd be taking a bite out of crime by responding to a recent 911 call but instead ended up arresting the hunger pangs of a bed-ridden senior.

Cst. Jeremiah Walker, a former chef in training, says he fed a 75-year-old woman some cheese and crackers after responding to an emergency call Tuesday.

Just before 1 p.m. that day, a 911 operator had received an unintelligible emergency call, so in the interest of public safety police say they dispatched Walker to the residence to ensure everything was fine.

Walker received no response to his door knocking, so he entered the residence where he found the senior in bed because of health issues.

Police say the senior was told to contact 911 when she couldn't reach her husband by phone but she informed Walker she was otherwise OK and just a little hungry.

Walker says he didn't feel right about leaving the senior hungry, and because she wanted some cheese and crackers he took the order and went into the kitchen to prepare the snack before leaving the scene.
