Two new cases of E. coli connected to the massive beef recall at the XL Foods plant in Alberta have been confirmed in British Columbia.

The BC Centre for Disease Control says the same strain of the bacteria was found by lab tests, bringing to three the number of people who've been sickened in BC.

Health officials say the new cases were both in adults and all three people who were ill have either recovered or are recovering.

One of those sickened was visiting Canada from outside the country and ate beef in both Alberta and BC.

The second person was diagnosed in the Fraser Health Authority in Metro Vancouver, while the original case involved a man in Nanaimo.

The XL plant hasn't been allowed to move beef to the market since Sept. 27 after it began recalling beef products last month because of the E. coli scare.
