Cabinet minister Coleman will be back

A prominent member of the British Columbia Liberal team announced today he'll be running for re-election in May.

Energy and Mines Minister Rich Coleman says he's strongly committed to Premier Christy Clark and her team and he wants to seek a new mandate in the spring election.

Coleman's decision to stay is a boost of confidence for Clark who lost cabinet ministers Kevin Falcon, George Abbott, Mary McNeil and former cabinet minister John Les last week when they announced they wouldn't be seeking re-election.

The minister's announcement comes as Clark redesigns her cabinet, with a cabinet shuffle expected later this week.

At least 10 Liberals have already announced they won't be running in May, and two more back-bench Liberals are expected to make similar announcements soon.

Clark's Liberal team still has veteran ministers Pat Bell, Shirley Bond, Mary Polak, Mike de Jong and Blair Lekstrom.
