Man ignited with camp fire fuel

On Saturday, August 4, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the North Vancouver RCMP investigated a fight in progress in the 700 block of Old Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. Upon arrival they discovered a 56-year-old North Vancouver man had been set on fire.

Early stages of the investigation have revealed that two males, known to each other, began fighting after they had been drinking alcohol all day.

A 34-year-old North Vancouver resident elevated the fight by throwing camp fuel at the victim and igniting him on fire. The victim received severe burns to more than 50% of his body.

The victim was taken to North Vancouver Lions Gate Hospital, Burn Unit, and remains there in serious condition being placed in a drug-induced coma.

The North Vancouver RCMP have arrested and charged the 34 year old with Attempted Murder. He remains in police custody.
