Thief nearly runs over cop
Jun 16, 2012 / 3:00 pm
The RCMP in BC's northern Interior are searching for a suspect after a police officer was nearly run over during a dangerous chase.
The Mounties were called after two men robbed a liquor store in Williams Lake.
Insp. Warren Brown says officers located a vehicle linked to the robbery, but the suspects rammed their vehicle into the police cruiser and then attempted to run over an officer.
Brown says the suspects led the RCMP on a chase through forestry roads until their vehicle was stopped by a spike belt.
As the two suspects attempted to run, one was arrested but the second got away.
Brown says the suspect is known to police and could face charges of vehicle theft, break-and-enter, dangerous driving and assault with a weapon.
