A male skier is recovering from injuries after he and a female companion survived an avalanche in the southeast corner of British Columbia.
The incident took place late Saturday afternoon near Kimberley, B.C.
RCMP Corporal Chris Newel says after an emergency beacon went off, the female skier was able to flag down search and rescue teams and lead them to her injured partner.
Newel says the male skier was alive but suffered serious injuries to his arm and was transported to a waiting ambulance.
The avalanche occurred one day after another slide killed a male skier on Meadow Mountain, located in the province's West Kootenay region.
So far this season there have been five avalanche-related death in B.C.
