Girl, 13, says she was assaulted in taxi
by The Canadian Press - Story: 70458

The RCMP in Dawson Creek, B.C. are investigating allegations a 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a cab driver.

Police say the girl claims she was offered a free ride home in the Golden Cabs taxi last week before being locked inside and sexually assaulted by the driver.

Police don't have a suspect in the case, but say other victims in several similar incidents have now come forward.

They say the incidents date back to last October and were not previously reported to them.

Police say a 55-year-old man has been arrested for sexual assault and forcible confinement in one of those cases and charges are pending.

As part of the investigation, the RCMP say Mounties searched the offices of Golden Cabs, and are interviewing other witnesses.
