Charges have been laid against a 44-year-old man after police near Sechelt B.C. stopped an impaired driver who was weaving over the road with his four-year-old daughter in the car.

The RCMP say they were called on Jan. 21 by witnesses who reported a suspected impaired driver heading north on the Sunshine Coast Highway.

When they stopped him he appeared drunk, but refused to provide a breath sample and was arrested.

Police say the man's four-year-old daughter was inside the vehicle with open and closed beer cans under her feet.

The girl was taken to a family friend's residence for the night.

The driver has now been charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample and has been banned from driving for 90 days.
