Drug use link in limo driver death
by The Canadian Press - Story: 70341
Jan 29, 2012 / 7:53 pm

RCMP suspect impaired driving led to a fiery crash that killed a 54-year-old limousine driver on B.C.'s Sea to Sky Highway, near Whistler.

A portion of Highway 99, between Function Junction and Alice Lake, was closed for eight hours following the 11:30 p.m. collision between a pick up truck and the limo.

Sgt. Peter Thiessen alleges the northbound truck crossed the centre line, crashing into the southbound limo.

The limo exploded and was engulfed in flames, killing its lone occupant, who was from the Lower Mainland.

The victim's name has not been released while police notify his family.

A 19-year-old Calgary man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is now being investigated for impaired driving by drugs.
