YVR reverses decision based on vaccination status

YVR scraps vaccination plan

Vancouver International Airport has reversed a decision made last week to separate arriving international passengers based on vaccination status.

CTV News Vancouver is reporting YVR's first plan was to split travellers going through customs into separate lines, depending on whether they were vaccinated or unvaccinated for COVID-19.

That plan has already been tossed, "the configuration of the two primary border control inspection lines and the volume of fully vaccinated passengers did not achieve anticipated goals for a smooth passenger flow and faster processing times," a YVR spokesperson wrote in an email to CTV News.

Turns out there were more fully vaccinated passengers arriving in Canada than anticipated and effective immediately (Monday), passengers coming into the airport will not be separated before reaching customs.

Pearson International Airport in Toronto came to a similar conclusion and made the same change as YVR.
