Serious collision closed Trans-Canada east of Cache Creek

Hwy 1 crash cleared

UPDATE: 8:05 p.m.

Drive BC has reported that the road closure east of Cache Creek has been cleared.

The roads between Back Valley Rd and Juniper Beach Prov Access Rd have now been re-opened.


UPDATE: 7:20 p.m.

Highway 1 remains closed east of Cache Creek following what was likely a fatal collision.

Cpl. Mike Halskov with the RCMP's traffic services unit says: "It looks like it's going to be a fatal collision."

While he confirmed there were two vehicles involved, he wasn't able to confirm what type of vehicles were involved or how many people were involved.

Drive BC has estimated the time of reopening will be 9:30 p.m.

A crash has closed the Trans-Canada Highway east of Cache Creek.

DriveBC reports a vehicle incident between Back Valley Roa and Juniper Beach Provincial Park access road, which has closed a 3.5-kilometre section of the route.

The highway is currently closed in both directions.

There is no estimated time of reopening. Travellers should detour via Highway 5 and Highway 97D to Logan Lake, then to Highway 1.
