Prince George police looking for assailant

Man dies after fight

An altercation in Prince George last week has turned into a homicide investigation.

RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said on Friday Oct. 4, at approximately 11:20 p.m., two men were involved in a physical altercation near the intersection of 20th Avenue and Redwood Street.

“As a result of this incident, 35 year old Gregory Wale suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital for medical attention. Shortly after arrival at the hospital, Wale left on his own accord prior to receiving medical attention,” said Douglass.

Just before 7 p.m. Saturday Oct. 5, Wale was found dead at his residence on Edmonton Street.

“The cause of death is believed to be related to the altercation,” said Douglass. “Attempts to locate the person responsible for the injuries are underway, however he is yet to be identified.”

The Prince George RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit were called in to lead the investigation.

Investigators believe that many people witnessed this fight and are asking them to come forward and provide information.
