Drunk driver hits child

A 12-year-old is suffering from life-threatening injuries after being struck by a suspected drunk driver in Langley Friday afternoon, one of two victims police believe the woman struck with her car.

According to a CTV News report, Langley RCMP said the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. in the 4900 block of 232 Street. 

A young boy had been struck by a dark blue Nissan Rogue, which left the scene and was located by police soon after. 

The driver was a 29-year-old Langley woman who was taken into custody, and police believe she was drunk. A passenger in the vehicle was also arrested after he allegedly tried to hide the vehicle following the incident. 

The 12-year-old boy is now in hospital. Earlier in the same day, an 18-year-old was leaving Langley Senior Secondary School and was struck by a car, which police believe was the same one. 

The Lower Mainland's Integrated Collision Analyst Reconstruction Service attended the scene to assist Langley RCMP with their investigation.

Anyone who witnessed either collision and has not yet spoken to police is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200. Investigators said they are especially interested in talking to people who witnessed the driving pattern of the vehicle before the collisions.
