Dies after crash at ferry

UPDATE: 3:50 p.m.

West Vancouver police are investigating after a driver crashed through the ticket booth at the BC Ferries terminal in Horseshoe Bay Tuesday afternoon and later died.

Const. Kevin Goodmurphy of the West Vancouver Police says the man, a Sunshine Coast resident, "was rushed to hospital and later succumbed to his condition.”

A driver slammed through the Horseshoe Bay ferry toll booths and crashed into parked cars on Tuesday.

BC Ferries says the driver suffered a medical incident.

The crash happened about 4:30 p.m. at Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver, when the driver suddenly accelerated, jumping the curb, CTV News reports.

No one was in the parked vehicles at the time.

The driver was taken to hospital in unknown condition.

The incident caused minor delays at the ferry terminal.
