Police investigate shooting

Police in Victoria were asking residents to remain indoors Tuesday afternoon, after a man was shot on Bay Street.

Just after 12:45 p.m., police responded to the 1500 block of Bay Street to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound outside a home.

The man was taken to hospital and police closed down Bay Street between Forbes and Victor streets as officers looked for the shooting suspect. The block remains closed, and police have not said if they've made any arrests.

At 1:30 p.m., police asked residents in the area to remain in their homes “out of an abundance of caution,” but the “all clear” was given two hours later.

“There is currently no information indicating that area residents are at risk and investigators do not believe that this was a random event,” the Victoria Police Department said in a statement.

Police remain on scene collecting evidence.
