A man walking a bicycle was struck and killed by a truck on Vancouver Island's Pat Bay Highway.
The 24-year-old Victoria man was struck about 3 p.m. Sunday, Saanich Police say.
The victim was walking beside the southbound lanes near the Royal Oak overpass when he stepped into traffic. The driver of the truck had no opportunity to avoid the collision, police say.
The investigation has been turned over to the BC Coroners Service.
Police say the driver was not injured and is not facing any charges.
The Independent Investigations Office of BC has been notified as both Saanich and Victoria Police had contact with the victim the day prior to his death.
