Stinky skunk situation

A resident from Mission B.C. found herself in what could have been a very stinky situation last Wednesday.

Tanya Krasuin was heading to her car for work when she suddenly heard plastic rattling around on the pavement.

''I was walking out to my car and I heard plastic dragging on the ground and I looked over and I could see this skunk disoriented in my front yard.''

The skunk had its head stuck in a plastic smoothie cup.

Krasuin ran back inside her home dropped all her stuff on the ground and ran back outside to try and save the skunk.

''I was so scared he was going to spray me and that's why I kept jumping back, but I just kept saying 'you have to do this, you have to do this'. It was such a struggle to get the cup off. He would not have been able to do it on his own.

Krasuin says she hopes that this can serve as a reminder to people to think about what they are doing with their garbage.

''I don't think animals should have to suffer because of our poor decisions. People so mindlessly throw things out the window.''

''A cup to us seems like an inconvenience, but it's a trap to something like a skunk,''she added.
