IIO called for broken arm

The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has been called to Prince George to look into an incident last week.

RCMP report on Feb. 28, 2019 at 11:50 a.m. an officer tried to pull a vehicle over on 5th Ave., near Ruggles Street in Prince George.

“According to the RCMP, the male’s vehicle was involved in a collision with the marked police vehicle and the male driver attempted to flee on foot,” an IIO news release states. “The officer was able to apprehend the male and arrest him.”

After the arrest, the man complained about pain in his arm and was taken to hospital where it was confirmed to be fractured.

IIO investigators will attempt to determine if there is a connection between the injuries of the man and the officer's actions.

The agency investigates officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, regardless of if there is an allegation of wrongdoing.
