Vaccinate your kids: Dix

B.C.'s health minister is urging people to get vaccinated to protect themselves from measles after a fourth case of the disease was confirmed in Vancouver.

Adrian Dix says it's the responsibility of parents to ensure their children are vaccinated and to also think of other people's kids who could be infected with the contagious disease.

He says vaccination rates could be higher and anyone who needs more information should contact their local health authority.

Vancouver Coastal Health says three measles cases were confirmed this week and the first person who tested positive acquired the infection outside of North America.

It says all the cases involve three French schools, two of the schools are connected by a door and all of them use the same school-bus company.

The health authority says a case of measles confirmed last week is unrelated to the current cases and not linked to outbreaks in neighbouring Washington state or Europe.
