12 bald eagles poisoned

Six bald eagles have died after being poisoned on Vancouver Island and another six remain in treatment.

The Raptors Rescue Society posted to Facebook asking for the public’s help after 12 bald eagles have been found poisoned in the Cowichan Valley.

CTV News spoke to Robyn Radcliffe from The Raptor Rescue Society who believes the eagles all fed off the same carcass.

Veterinary technicians Tammy and Katharine at VCA Canada Island Animal Hospital rushed to treat the poisoned Bald Eagles on Saturday night.

“The birds needed to be emptied of their crop contents, provided with warmth, given activated charcoal and intravenous fluids,” said Ken Langelier.

The group put a plea out to anyone in the Cowichan Valley to look for sleepy, ‘drunken’ or dead bald eagles and call 778-936-0732.
