Police reopen Highway 5

DriveBC reports the police incident has ended and the highway has reopened. 

There is still no indication of what was behind the closure. 

ORIGINAL 5:40 p.m.

A police incident has closed Highway 5 near Clearwater.

DriveBC reports the Southern Yellowhead Highway is closed between Old North Thompson Highway and McMurphy Station Road.

The 55-kilometre closure spans from about four kilometres south of Clearwater to 19 kilometres south of Avola.

There are no details available on the nature of the police incident.

DriveBC expects an update will be available at 6:30 p.m.
