Standoff ends at home

A distraught man has been hospitalized following a police standoff in Port Moody.

The man locked himself inside a home on Aspenwood Drive early Friday and called 911.

Police had reason to believe he may have had a gun.

"There was some indication that there may be a weapon in the residence, but that has not yet been confirmed," Deputy Chief Const. Ken MacDonald said.

An Emergency Response Team surrounded the house, and the man was eventually taken to hospital.

There was no threat to the public.
