Huge bust a blow to gangs

Police are lauding "one of the most successful gang crime investigations in B.C. history."

Fourteen members of the Kang gang and Red Scorpions face 92 charges following an investigation that has been ongoing since March 2017.

Police seized 93 firearms, a pressure cooker bomb, 9.5 kilograms of fentanyl and 40 kilos of other drugs, as well as $833,000 in cash and more than $1 million worth of jewelry and collector cars.

Charges against the gangsters include drug trafficking, firearms possession, possession of the proceeds of crime and participation in a criminal organization.

“The seizure of deadly firearms and drugs in this investigation will undoubtedly save lives,” said Supt. Brian Gateley of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit.

The task force has resulted in 201 charges against 34 people since its creation, with more pending.
