More evac orders issued

Update: 8:55 p.m.

The Cariboo Regional District has also issued an evacuation order for 62 properties in the Tatelkuz Lake area.  This order replaces and expands upon the Tatelkuz Lake Area Alert issued below. 

There are two available evacuation routes:

Some properties may need to take the Kluskus Forest Service Road (FSR) to the Red Road looping back around to the Kluskus FSR and out to Vanderhoof and Prince George from Highway 16.

Some properties may need to take the Batnuni Road to Blackwater Road to Quesnel and North to Prince George from Highway 97.

To register at the Emergency Support Services visit the Reception Centre at Exhibition Park at Ospika Boulevard and 18th Avenue in Prince George.


UPDATE: 8:20 p.m.

The 1,200-hectare Narcosli Creek wildfire burning in the Cariboo region has put properties in the Lang Lake and Murphy Lake area on an evacuation order.

The Cariboo Regional District has issued an evacuation order for 66 properties in the Lang Lake and Murphy Lake area.  A small portion of the Hawkins Lake and Eagle Creek area evacuation alert, issued just after noon Friday, is now included in this order.

RCMP members will be enforcing the action. 

The evacuation route is: Murphy Lake to 500 Road to Bradley Creek Road to Wilcox Road to Forest Grove to 100 Mile House for Emergency Support Services.

Several growing wildfires in the Cariboo region put hundreds of homes on evacuation alert Friday.

A large area west of Quesnel was put on alert Friday afternoon, due to the 1,200-hectare Narcosli Creek wildfire. Thirty firefighters along with two helicopters are working on the blaze. The alert covers all properties in the city west of the Fraser River, and rural properties west of town.

Farther south, 181 properties south of Williams Lake are on alert due to a 45-hectare fire that was sparked Thursday. The alert covers the Mayfield Lake area, north to Buckley Drive.

Northeast of 100 Mile House, 396 properties are now under evacuation alert near Hawkins Lake due to the 200-hectare Lang Lake wildfire. This area is just north of the an evacuation order that was put in place Thursday in the Houseman Road area.

Finally, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District has put four properties northeast of Young Lake under an evacuation alert due to a three-hectare fire nearby.

Those under an evacuation alert should be ready to evacuate their homes immediately.
