A family of black bears has been relocated after wandering too close to a Courtenay elementary school.
The mother bear and three cubs were spotted Monday near Arden Elementary. They were hanging out in a tree on private property.
A conservation officer issued a ticket to one homeowner for insecure attractants and advised two others.
The bears were corralled to a green space west of the school for relocation.
School staff were advised of the incident and asked to send information home with students about human-wildlife conflicts and bear attractants.
