Librarian kicker found

Police have found the man believed to be responsible for kicking an elderly female librarian in Richmond Wednesday afternoon.

A video of the incident went viral after the man knocked the woman to the ground, before running out of the Richmond Public Library just before 5:30 p.m.

"Police have identified and located the suspect allegedly responsible for the assault," said Cpl. Dennis Hwang of the Richmond RCMP. "We thank the public for their assistance in helping to identify the individual involved."

Police say the assault was unrelated to the housing for homeless community event that was being held at the library at the time.

“This was an isolated incident that was not racially or ethnically motivated," said Cpl. Hwang. "We remind people to exercise a critical lens in what they see, hear, or read before any judgements are made."
