Rams police car, civilian car

A man accused of causing two crashes in Port Coquitlam on Wednesday morning, one involving a police car, has been taken into custody.

Police attempted to stop a vehicle during a traffic stop at Kingsway Avenue and the Mary Hill Bypass, just before 11 a.m.

"Instead of pulling over, the driver is accused of causing a collision with the police car that attempted to pull him over," Coquitlam RCMP said in a news release.

Shortly after, the male driver collided with a civilian vehicle at Broadway Street near the Mary Hill Bypass while evading being pulled over by police.

Officers took the man into custody after the second collision. No serious injuries were reported in either crash.

A 29-year-old Maple Ridge man is facing several charges as a result of the two incidents.

Police continue to investigate the collisions.
