Highway 1 is closed in both directions east of Golden for avalanche Control.
DriveBC reports the route should reopen by 11:30 a.m.

The Trans-Canada is now open just east of Sicamous, after being shutdown for almost 12 hours overnight. RCMP have opened the highway on a staggered basis. There is a winter warning issued for the region and all non-essential travel is not recommended.
UPDATE 7:52 a.m.
The Trans-Canada near Revelstoke is expected to re-open this morning at 8 a.m. after being closed for almost 12 hours overnight.
RCMP tell Castanet there will be a staggered release of traffic, so expect heavy congestion.
UPDATE 6:42 a.m.
A winter storm warning is in effect for the Trans-Canada west of Revelstoke through to Golden. Between 30 and 50 cm of snow is expected to fall in the area. The highway has already seen several collisions. A travel advisory is in effect, non-essential travel is not recommended according to DriveBC.

Winter driving conditions in effect on the Trans-Canada Highway if you're heading to Alberta today.
Highway 1 is closed in both directions because of a collision 5 kilometres east of Sicamous to Revelstoke.
Estimated time of opening is between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.
Traffic analysis experts are on scene, vehicle recovery is anticipated to commence within the hour.
