Stabbing on the mountain

UPDATE: 12:50 p.m.

RCMP say their response early Thursday on Mount Seymour was for a stabbing.

North Vancouver RCMP received a 911 call from an injured male just after 5 a.m. Paramedics located the victim about 1,000 meters up the trail. The man was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Police received a second call about 8:30 a.m. from a man in the same area, advising he was injured and required medical assistance. He was found in the same general area.

The injuries were consistent with knife wounds as the result of an altercation on the mountain, and it appears these two are known to each other.

The Lower Mainland Emergency Response team was dispatched to the area, which has now been reopened.

Police say two men have been taken to hospital following apparent "criminal actions" on a mountain north of Vancouver.

North Vancouver RCMP posted a tweet Thursday morning saying emergency responders were called to the Mount Seymour area for reports of an injured hiker or camper.

They say an injured male was found about 15 minutes from the parking lot and taken to hospital for treatment.

Another injured man was also found on the mountain and taken to hospital.

No details have been released about what caused the injuries, but Mounties say they "appear to be related to criminal actions."

Officers remained on scene Thursday morning and an investigation is ongoing.
