Weather impacts Hwys

UPDATE 10:05 a.m.

Highway one at Revelstoke is now open. It was closed for several hours this morning due to a motor vehicle incident.

UPDATE 9:03 a.m.

Highway one at Revelstoke now has a single lane open for alternating traffic.

UPDATE: 8:26 a.m.

Highway 23 is closed in both directions at Mica Dam to 4 km south of Mica Dam Hill because of avalanche debris removal. No Detour Available at this time.

Looks like it's going to be another one of those days in the Okanagan.

We've already had "Thundersnow" and Environment Canada says there is a weather alert for the Coquhilla today as well.

as of 6:30 a.m. Highway 1 is closed in both directions due to a collision 18 km east of Revelstoke. The highway is closed all the way to Golden.

No estimated time of opening as the assessment is still in progress.

Environment Canada says a cool moist unstable air mass behind a cold front will continue to spread flurries at times heavy to the southern highway passes.

Five to 15 centimetres of snow fell over the Coquihalla Summit last night. An additional 10 centimetres of snow is expected today before the system weakens.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
