Brush with killer whales

Martin Michael captured an incredible image on a beach near Sechelt.

In the video taken this past Saturday, you can see killer whales rubbing their bodies along a pebbly shoreline.

You can clearly see the pod of mammals, ranging in size from two to eight metres in just a few metres of water.

Michael said he was amazed by the animals and posted this message on his Facebook page: "Orca pod at our beach, fortunately, the water is 50 feet deep here 15 feet out from shore, what an experience! enjoy!"

Michael says the whales spent about 45 minutes cruising back and forth along the shore at Golden Mile Beach in West Sechelt, which has a steep drop-off.
