Boy gets over 3,000 cards

A six-year-old boy received over 3,000 Christmas cards from strangers.

Owen Hill Davie suffers from two rare genetic conditions which require around the clock care. It is difficult for him to play with toys, but brightly coloured Christmas cards make him laugh and smile.

His family, who lives in Delta B.C., posted on Facebook asking friends to spread a little Christmas cheer by sending Davie a card.

"It's overwhelming, but it's overwhelming in a good way,” said his mother Stephanie Hill Davie to CTV News.

Stephanie said he loves the musical cards because they surprise him and he loves textured cards.

"But mostly he really loves being read to,” she said.

Cards came from all over North America and as far as Russia, Germany, Ireland and Australia.

Each day he received almost 200 cards and some were even dropped off in person. A local Save-On-Foods set up a mailbox for customers to drop cards off.

"Every card is special. Every card has a unique story and a different reason of why we love it," Stephanie said.

Owen is diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome and Kabuki syndrome. He cannot sit up or eat by himself and it prevents him from doing things other children can.

Cards to Owen can be sent to the following address:
