No charges for PG officer

A member of the Prince George RCMP will not be facing criminal charges in relation to an arrest in July 2015.

The BC Prosecution Service announced Wednesday no charges have been approved in the July 11 arrest in which the suspect suffered a fracture of his left leg.

The incident was investigated by the Independent Investigations Office, which subsequently submitted a report to crown counsel for review by the BCPS.

The BCPS has concluded the available evidence does not meet the charge assessment standard. The BCPS would not be able to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the officer committed a criminal offence or used excessive force in the administration or enforcement of the law and no charges were approved.

The name of the officer being investigated was not released.
