Student groped near school

Police are looking for a suspect after a female student was groped by a man near Clayton Heights Secondary School in Surrey.

RCMP said the sexual assault occurred in the Cloverdale area Tuesday morning.

Cpl. Scotty Schumann said a female student was on her way to school just before 8 a.m. when she was allegedly grabbed from behind and groped on the 18800 block of 69th Avenue, near the school.

“The 15-year-old victim reported that she managed to free herself from the suspect and run back home. The suspect male fled on foot,” said Schumann. “The victim was not injured.”

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, in his thirties or forties, wearing a dark hoody and grey and blue washed-out jeans.

Officers are looking into whether the incident is related to a similar one last week.

"The Surrey school district has sent a letter home to notify parents of this incident,” said Schumann.
