Canucks fans dustup

A brawl between rival fans has prompted the Vancouver Canucks to review security.

The Canucks are investigating reports that the security company it hires to monitor Rogers Arena on game days did not intervene when a fight broke out between fans.

The investigation began after a fan vented his frustration on social media following a fight he witnessed at the team's home opener Saturday.

Ryan Pineo witnessed the fight between Edmonton Oilers and Canucks fans and took a photo he later posted on Twitter.

Pineo said he saw a man in an Oilers jersey lying on the ground, with a man in a Canucks jersey standing above him.

"One of the guys was booting him as hard as he could in the ribs and in the head," Pineo said.

Pineo said a guard did eventually get involved, but four or five minutes after the fight started.

He added that until that point all security did was direct fans away from the fight and when he told security to follow one of the men who was involved in the fight, he was told 'That's not part of our job.'

Police eventually arrived, but Pineo did not know if anyone was arrested.

Canucks Sports and Entertainment are looking into the matter.
