Cold night on mountain

UPDATE: Tuesday 6:30 a.m.

An injured trail runner was airlifted from a mountain on Vancouver's North Shore, Monday, after spending a cold night outdoors.

The man had fallen on sharp rocks on Mount Harvey, Sunday.

Lions Bay Search and Rescue search manager Brent Calkin said the man had a leg injury and possible spinal injury.

He was airlifted Monday after it became too dark to perform the rescue Sunday.

Five rescuers camped with the man overnight.

Rescuers spent the night on a North Shore mountain with an injured hiker.

Lions Bay Search and Rescue crews ran out of daylight Sunday, so stayed with the man, who had fallen and injured his back. It is believed he may have a spinal injury.

Crews needed a long line to reach the man.

The hiker was being medically assessed, and, if needed, military help would be brought in.
