Evac alert remains

An evacuation alert remains in effect for residents around Galena Bay near Revelstoke because of a wildfire.

The alert was issued Aug. 5 and people in the area are reminded they may have to flee on a moment's notice and covers people living in the Galena Bay Area near Highway 23 and 31.

Crews are working on the west flank of the fire with the aid of helicopters and heavy equipment. Crews continue to put guard in and are working to widen existing guard in some areas.

There are currently 34 fire fighters, two helicopters and one piece of heavy equipment working on site.
