Tried to mow down woman

Police are investigating reports that a driver tried to run over a pedestrian Monday evening in Burnaby.

A black Jeep Cherokee was being driven erratically in the Canada Way-Willingdon Avenue area and attempted to hit a woman, witnesses told RCMP.

As the driver fled from police, the Jeep struck two vehicles. No one was injured in either collision, but the driver did get away.

Less than an hour later, a Jeep crashed on the Port Mann Bridge, and a male and female were taken into custody.

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to contact RCMP at 604-294-7922 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
