Pedestrian hit, cop charged

A Lower Mainland RCMP officer has been charged after a pedestrian was struck a year ago.

Sgt. Christopher Lee was off-duty when the incident happened on the morning of March 21, 2016, in Coquitlam. The pedestrian survived.

The criminal justice branch announced Monday that a charge of driving without due care and attention was approved against Lee.

The Independent Investigations Office, which investigates incidents involving police, submitted its findings to the branch.

Lee will appear April 27 in Coquitlam provincial court.
