Looking for suspect, victim

Vancouver police are reaching out to the public to find the suspect, and victim, in a violent assault in the early hours of Feb. 17.

Just after 2 a.m., witnesses near a back alley by West 10th Avenue and Alder Street heard a woman screaming and saw a man repeatedly hit a woman and pull her into a vehicle.

By the time police arrived, the car had left the area. Police could not locate the car, or those inside, and still do not know who the two people involved in the assault were.

Police released photos of blonde hair extensions found at the scene of the assault, in the hopes it can help identify the victim.

Additionally, the VPD also released surveillance footage of the car, believed to be a BMW M3.

“We’re asking her, or anyone who thinks they may know who she is, to contact us,” said Const. Jason Doucette in a statement. “The most important thing is that we need to ensure that she is okay.”

The victim is described as a Caucasian woman in her 20s, with a slender build and long, straight, platinum blonde hair with bangs. She was wearing a neutral-coloured top and a black skirt at the time of the assault.

Police describe the suspect as a well-dressed Caucasian man in his 30s, with an “athletic build.” He was clean-shaven with slicked-back dark hair and was wearing a long black trench coat and blue jeans at the time of the assault.

Police have asked anyone with any information about the assault to call 604-717-0603.
